Book Review: Learning by Heart (an Unconventional Education)

Due to the disruption of “school” everywhere by the pandemic, the discussion about learning and teaching has never been more vigorous or possibly more needed.  I think many educators, rightfully so, view this crisis as an opportunity for change and are seeking new scenarios for what learning and teaching should look like in the future.  In recent months, I have reviewed a number of exemplary books about research on leadership and change.  This month I have taken a different tack by reading the recent memoir of Tony Wagner, renowned researcher and writer from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.  This was a different kind of book but one that should be read by teachers as well as administrators.  In many ways, Tony's experiences are great catalysts for our own reflections on how students learn in our schools.
