The Fearless Organization: Creating Psychological Safety in the Workplace for Learning, Innovation,

Amy C. Edmondson | Published on 2/17/2023

Amy C. Edmondson is a professor of Leadership and Management at Harvard Business School, and an instructor in the Certificate in School Management and Leadership (CSML) program, a collaboration between the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the Harvard Business School.

At its core, The Fearless Organization focuses on developing an environment of psychological safety. Edmondson seeks to provide leaders with the knowledge and tools to create work environments where individuals can thrive, and organizations can succeed.

Divided into three parts, this book is both evidence-based and highly practical. Part One provides an overview of the academic research on psychological safety, presented in a concise and readable manner. In Part Two, Edmondson uses case studies of organizations such as NASA, Google X, Pixar, and Eileen Fisher, to illustrate the impacts of psychological safety (and its absence) on organizational outcomes. Part Three focuses on how leaders can create a fearless organization.
